Laughter is one of the greatest gifts in this world that we are blessed with. It is one of simpler things in life that can truly bring people together and allow us as individuals to break free from the everyday stresses and difficulties of normal life. Everyone loves to have a good laugh. Would you agree?
FunnyFest is a catalyst for mental & physical health through comedy! Stand-up comedy & sketch comedy provides unique, offbeat, and sometimes twisted reflections of the world around us. This form of humour often captures the truth beneath all the craziness of modern society, giving us a better understanding of who we are and how we fit into the grand scheme of things.
The idea of hosting a comedy festival in the city of Calgary began in 1990’s. An innovative, forward-thinker, Stu Hughes started with the idea of showcasing some of the best comics in the World to the general public of Calgary, Alberta. An event as large as this does not happen overnight, there were many major and minor steps that needed to be taken in order for this type of festival to occur. After years of planning and co-ordinating, FunnyFest was created. In the year 2001, the first annual Calgary International Comedy Festival became a reality. We are now into our 8th year and the results have been astounding.

FunnyFest is produced by hard working & dedicated volunteers. Some of which have been in the circus, in a cult or in a coma.
In essence FunnyFest is all about the funny, so come laugh with us Calgary!
